What factors affect the price of a photo shoot?
Many studios give vague quotes or say “contact us for details” without explaining why. Here are the factors that genuinely affect the cost of a portrait session:
1. Type of concept — studio or outdoor?
Studio shoots are usually cheaper because there are no travel costs and no dependence on the weather. Outdoor shoots add travel costs and often require early mornings or late afternoons (golden hour), which affects the photographer's schedule.
That said, many outdoor locations in Thu Duc (Vinhomes, new urban areas) are close to the K-BLACK studio, so travel costs are lower than for District 1–District 3.
2. Number of finished photos
Shooting many photos ≠ receiving many photos. In a 2-hour session, a photographer may shoot 300–500 frames. But the number of photos that are curated + fully retouched is the number you actually receive.
Retouching takes the most time in the entire process. 1 carefully retouched photo = 20–45 minutes. That's why there's a significant price gap between a 5-photo package and a 25-photo package.
3. Complexity of the concept
A simple concept (1 outfit, plain studio backdrop) is faster and cheaper than a concept with multiple outfits, multiple locations, a makeup artist and elaborate props. Every added element increases setup time and production costs.
How does a plain-backdrop shoot differ from an outdoor shoot?
The two serve very different purposes:
Plain backdrop (studio backdrop) — puts all the focus on the person. Ideal for: executive ID photos, LinkedIn, website headshots, long-term profile pictures. This is the book a personal profile shoot most common format in the corporate world.

K-BLACK Studio is located at Vinhomes Grand Park, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City — near Suoi Tien Metro Station and about 25–30 minutes' drive from District 1.
We serve clients from all over Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. For clients further away (Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An), the K-BLACK team can help plan an efficient schedule to minimize travel time.
K-BLACK can also shoot at your office or a location of your choice (travel fees apply, and only for certain services — ask when booking).
How does booking work?

- Our team advises on the concept and sends a quote — replies within 15–30 minutes during business hours.
- Confirm your slot and pay a deposit — a 30% deposit secures your slot. The deposit is refundable if you cancel more than 48 hours in advance.
- The shoot — the photographer guides you step by step; no prior posing experience needed.
- Review photos on the spot — right during the session: you view the images on a large screen and pick your favorites for retouching.
- Receive finished photos — 2–4 days after the session (original files delivered the same day).
Frequently asked questions about pricing
Does the price include makeup?
No — the basic packages do not include makeup. K-BLACK offers a makeup artist as an add-on (extra fee), or you can do your own makeup before coming to the studio. If you need a makeup artist, ask when booking so we can arrange it.
Can I bring family members along?
Yes. Family members can wait in the studio. However, to keep the session focused, it's best not to have more than 1–2 people “watching” — it can affect your mindset.
Can I try a few test shots first?
Yes. At the start of every session, K-BLACK always includes a 5–10 minute “warm-up” — test shots to help you get comfortable with the lighting, the camera and posing. These warm-up shots don't count toward your official photo count.
