We don’t do stiff, “everyone look at the camera and smile” setups. K-BLACK’s approach to family sessions is documentary-light: we create loosely structured scenarios — walking together, kids running ahead, parents watching — and capture the genuine moments that happen in between.
The result is a set of images that actually look like your family, in a city you’re living in or visiting, during a time you’ll want to remember. Not a stock photo recreation.
Session Details
A typical outdoor family session runs 90–120 minutes and includes:
- 1–2 locations (we typically stay within one area to minimize transit time, especially with young children)
- Natural interaction — we direct gently but let the family dynamic take over
- Multiple groupings: full family, couple only, individual child portraits, siblings
- 200–400 frames shot across the session
- Delivery of 25–40 fully retouched images within 7 working days
- Preview gallery within 48–72 hours so you select favorites before final retouching
For families with young children under 5, we recommend morning sessions (6:30–8:00 AM) — kids are freshest, light is softest, and locations are quietest. Toddlers in particular do much better before the midday heat sets in.

What to Wear — Practical Guide for Families
The most common mistake families make is over-matching — everyone in identical white shirts looks great on paper but rarely feels natural in photos. Our recommendation:
- Coordinate, don’t match — Pick a color palette (2–3 colors) rather than identical outfits. Complementary tones look cohesive without being costume-y.
- Avoid busy patterns — Fine stripes, complex prints, and logos distract the eye from faces.
- Layer for visual interest — A light cardigan or jacket on one person adds dimension, especially for Vietnamese climate where layers make sense in the cooler morning hours.
- Comfortable shoes — If kids are running around (they will be), everyone needs to be comfortable on their feet. Sandals over heels for outdoor sessions.
- Bring an extra outfit for kids — Spills, tears, grass stains. Always have a backup.

Outdoor family sessions start from 3,500,000 VND (~$135 USD at current rates) for a 90-minute session with 25 retouched images. Extended sessions, additional locations, and larger family groups are quoted individually.
